How should I start walking barefoot – little by little, or the whole day from the outset?
Bear in mind that the muscles in your feet have been largely neglected and need to develop slowly at first. That goes not only for the muscles, but also the tendons, ligaments and the skin, which has become particularly sensitive. Start slowly, walking or running short distances, and listen to your body. If your muscles ache, allow a few days to recover before gradually increasing your distances and times.
Although you cannot go wrong when walking barefoot, give your feet time to get used to doing new things again. With every step you take, you will be rewarded with wonderful reflexology and a deep sense of well-being.
Why should I walk or run with leguanos?
Running or walking barefoot is not a fashion statement, it is the way nature intended us to be. When we place our feet in shoes, which have soles that are more or less rigid, we are essentially putting our foot muscles, tendons and ligaments out of action. The sole of a shoe acts like a splint, causing the foot literally to buckle: three-dimensional structures transform into flat feet, skew feet, fallen arches and splay feet. Side effects may also include bunions, heel spurs and other foot problems. It is not only the feet that suffer, however: the entire musculoskeletal system is impaired because the whole body rests on the feet. As biometrics are thrown out of kilter, this manifests in knee, hip and back problems.
Walking barefoot is therefore necessary to reactivate all of the foot muscles and resolve the aforementioned problems. Going barefoot is the best way of preventing pains and damage to the musculoskeletal system of in the human body; in many cases, existing complaints will be eased or eradicated altogether.
How long does the sole last?
Around 800-1,000 km on asphalt, which is comparable to a normal pair of trainers.
What is Lifolit?
Lifolit is the material used for the soles on leguanos. It is a highly resilient yet flexible material that does not restrict the movement of the foot. It is used in sectors such as the toy industry (for Schleich animals, amongst other things) and complies with toy safety standard EN 71/9 – so it is perfectly safe for children.
Where can I walk barefoot?
Anywhere you want to. The highly flexible yet resilient sole is suitable for all surfaces, protecting the feet ideally against sharp objects such as seashells, stones, branches, gravel, tarmac and so on.
Can I wear leguanos anywhere?
Of course: the highly flexible yet resilient sole is suited to all surfaces. Wherever you wish to go barefoot – whether staying home, taking a stroll, visiting the theatre, playing indoor sports, marathon running or rambling – it’s easily possible with leguanos to protect your feet.
What if it’s raining or very cold?
There’s no need to worry about the elements! Needless to say, your feet will get wet if you walk in the rain or through puddles. When your feet are in constant motion, however, they create their own heat and dry out again in minutes. In fact, we recommend walking in the rain in leguanos – it’s a great experience to get back in touch with nature and realize how good it feels. You can even wear leguanos in snow and ice: their excellent slip-proof qualities mean you can walk confidently, while the warm uppers keep the temperature pleasant.
Can I put leguanos in the washing machine?
Yes, at 40 degrees in a laundry bag.
Do they provide enough support?
When we activate the muscles in the feet, the feet themselves provide all the support we need. As the muscles, tendons and ligaments develop fully, movement becomes natural and stumbles and twisted ankles happen far less often.
Will the socks go baggy?
No, the fit remains snug even after frequent washes in a washing machine.
Do I still need padding in my shoes?
To achieve a natural gait, we don’t need any kind of padding in our shoes. We come into the world barefoot, which equips us ideally for all forms of movement. Padding is only suitable for runners wearing shoes who are unable to utilise a natural running style. Running in shoes forces runners to bound along. Padding lessens the impact of every step, which only serves to divert the energy expended on each jump forward into the ground in the form of heat.
What about insoles?
Frequent barefoot walking activates all the foot muscles, which renders insoles unnecessary in most cases in a relatively short time.
Leguanos are not waterproof. Why is this?
The uppers are breathable, which allows moisture to escape and feet to breathe again – finally.
What if I have knee, hip or back problems?
Many knee and/or hip problems as well as numerous back complaints are caused by incorrect positioning of the feet.
When we train our feet muscles and restore our natural biometric balance, pain of this kind is often consigned to the past in short order.
Remember: a healthy body has no need of a doctor. And also: running or walking barefoot is never wrong. Always consult a doctor if discomfort persists or other pathological conditions exist.
